Who we are

This policy describes how the mobile application Jewish Prayer: Learning Time (“the App”) handles information. The App is provided by Elwood Fanshawe.

Companion API: https://api.jewishprayerlearningtime.cc

What the App is for

The App helps you study Jewish prayer: siddur texts, lessons, a Hebrew calendar, a practice journal, and short quizzes. It does not offer accounts, social features, messaging, or a public profile. Nobody else can see that you installed the App or what you have studied in it.

Information we store

The App does not ask for your real name, email, phone number, or payment details.

On the device, and as a backup on our server keyed only to an anonymous device identifier, we may store:

Photographs you attach to journal notes stay on the device and are not uploaded. The avatar picture you pick stays on the device.

How we use it

We use this information only to:

We do not sell information, do not show advertising, and do not use the data for profiling or marketing. We do not share it with other users.

Push notifications

If you grant notification permission, the App may register with Apple Push Notification service through OneSignal so we can send operational alerts. You can revoke permission at any time in iOS Settings. Local prayer reminders you set in the App are scheduled on the device and do not require our servers.

Identifiers and security

Requests to the companion API include the anonymous device identifier so that each device can read and write only its own records. There is no password and no account recovery: if the identifier is lost (for example after deleting the App and its Keychain data), the server copy cannot be matched to you.

Third parties

The App talks to the companion API hosted for this product. Apple may process information according to Apple’s own policies when you download the App from the App Store or use system features such as notifications, Face ID, or iCloud Keychain. OneSignal is used only to deliver push notifications you allow. We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Children

The App is a study tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not request age, contacts, or location. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the journal, contact us and we will delete the associated server records where we can identify them.

Retention and deletion

Practice history and statistics are kept so the App can restore your streak and log. You can erase practice data from inside the App; that also wipes the server copy for that device identifier. You may also email us at elwood.fanshawe@icloud.com to request deletion. We may keep server logs for a short period for security and to keep the service running.

International processing

The companion API may run on servers outside your country. By using the App you understand that anonymous device records may be processed where the service is hosted.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
